Osibisa

Osibisa, one of the legendary pioneers of world music and the inventors of global fusion, opened the door to African pop music with world-wide smash hits “Sunshine Day”, “Dance The Body Music”, “The Warrior” way back in the 70s.

Osibisa makes everything possible for today’s African artists. Their trademark of infectious African rhythms, soulful vocals and pop sensibilities all driven by great song writing has never been better.

This year the band founded by Teddy Osei celebrates their 40th anniversary and they still sounds as innovative and powerful as ever. It is a great honour that the festival welcomes this legendary band. Expect all the great hits and many more from their incredible back catalogue.

"This firecracker of a gig makes another, more important point.... Osibisa have a rich, rotund groove whose joyous chorus is taken up by the whole audience straight from the downbeat. The skipping, vaulting rhythms prove an invitation to dance that even those suffering from mid-winter lethargy can't resist and tunes such as "The Dawn", "Woyaya" and "Fire" draw an immediately hot response from a crowd"
