Hoardings Project

Completed panels

This project, which ran from October-December 2006, was in partnership with the London Borough of Newham and was part of the borough-wide regeneration programme. AS Graphics students from NewVIc (Newham Sixth Form College) and GCSE Art students from Royal Docks Community School worked in collaboration with artist Rhoda Webb to design the panels and produce artwork using photography and other media that is now displayed on panels along Salway Road in Stratford.

Site before the project

The site which is near Stratford Circus and the Theatre Royal in Stratford’s cultural quarter, had previously been surrounded with drab wire fencing. Now there is an impressive 48 metre run of vibrant images that focus on theme of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

The Participants worked with Olympic extracts and words that specify the theme of Olympism, which covers not only sporting excellence but also harmony and understanding between nations. This project was funded by the London Borough of Newham and Aim Higher.
